Two years post–Maui wildfire, survivors still face serious mental and physical health challenges. In a study of 2,000 people, 41% report worsening health, 50% depression, 25% anxiety, 40% housing insecurity, and doubled food insecurity rates. Alarmingly, 70% have hypertension and many children suffer from PTSD or depression. Findings point to the lingering toll of disaster exposure—underscoring the need for culturally appropriate healthcare and sustained mental health resources.
